A Brush with Art
The Flinders Ranges comes alive with a kaleidoscope of colour!
6th September – 6th October 2014
The paint is drying and the smell of turpentine wafts from old rags on the wooden floor, stained with paint and splashes of colour. Sunshine streams in through the window and a magpie warbles outside. The artist adds the final touch before stepping back, retiring the brush and wiping his hands…
The arid Flinders Ranges have long inspired artists, filmmakers and musicians travelling through the region to take in the rich colours, friendly mood, peace and timelessness in this rocky, ancient place.
It all started in 2004 when an art-trail linked galleries already showing works. Now “A Brush with Art” has become the regions’ premier art event and is growing every year. This year the event includes 16 exhibitions of both solo shows and group exhibitions, with works on sale, but be quick! Works sell fast.
Make a “Brush with Art” a brush with adventure; a perfect theme for a group of friends to travel in the region, and discover small country locations like Jamestown and Wilpena Pound. Each town has its own unique attractions and it’s easy to explore a few a day with a regional visitor guide to show you the local secrets.
