This house was built in 1901 for Henry Percival Riddle and his bride Agnes. There they had three children, Alfred Alan, Wynne and Dorothy. Alwyndor has seen its share of triumph and tragedy. When she inherited it in 1943, Dorothy converted it into a rest home. Today it is a 48-bed nursing home plus semi-independent hostel accommodation for 80, and was South Australia’s first council-owned and operated home for the aged.
