Farrell Flat is situated 20km east of Clare and 20km south-west of Burra.
Originally named Hanson in 1870, it was renamed Farrell Flat in 1940.
Farrell Flat was an important stop over on the railway to Broken Hill and a major grain and wool terminal. The town bustled until the railway line closed in the 1980's.
Visit the information bay and town garden across the road from the hall and public toilets. A walk around the town will reveal beautiful gardens, historic buildings and some spectacular views from the golf course.
