Discover two of the states most popular beachside towns, both set against some of South Australias prettiest stretches of coastline, with long expanses of sand, picturesque high cliffs, sand dunes and water the colour of turquoise.

Moana

Moana is a favourite of holidaying families, choosing to stay at the nearby tourist park, in holiday homes, bed and breakfasts or caravans. The foreshore is dominated by towering Norfolk Island pines, with the area popular for fishing, snorkelling, swimming and coastal walks. Moana is one of the few places in the state where cars can be driven onto the sand, with a beach pass, which is always popular on a hot summers day.

The beachs swimming areas are patrolled by surf lifesavers, November to March, making it a good choice for families.

Maslin Beach

Further south, Maslin Beach is named after Thomas Maslin who arrived in South Australia in 1836 and became a prominent Adelaide businessman. Later he purchased land near the area for a mixed farm, primarily known for prime lamb production, with the Maslin family having significant input to local affairs.

Although more commonly referred to as its colloquial name Maslins, the pristine Maslin Beach is infamous for its stretch of nudist beach in 1975 it became Australias first unclad bathing reserve. Great if you want to avoid tan lines! If you wish to visit this pretty protected cove but want to remain clothed dont be deterred, the beach is three kilometres long and its only the southern end where nude bathing and swimming is accepted.
