Peterborough SA

Your self drive guide to Peterborough.

Peterborough was a hero of the 20th century – a hissing, steaming hub of mighty locomotives sitting at the crossroads of a growing nation.

Today, the spring skies are china blue, the kids no longer have to wipe the clothes-lines clean of soot and the only whistles are from birds among the wildflowers. But Peterborough is still the geographic heart of Australia and visitors still arrive from four corners – although they are usually hauling caravans rather than freight!

This mobile guide presents two self drive itineraries to help you make the most of your time in Peterborough. Each has a map with GPS support, and a list of the attractions which we recommend you see if you are staying with us.

We hope that you enjoy your time in Peterborough, and encourage you to do yourself a favour and do us the honour to
Stay an Extra Day!

We now have a working ‘N’ Gauge model train set based on the railway yards of Peterborough in 1968. This has been set up in The Burg and is free to look at. The model took over 15,000 hours and 8 years to make and is well worth the look.
