Wirrabara Forest is one of the must see attractions in the region despite the Old Nursery area being seriously damaged by the January 2014 fire. The forest covers 7000 hectares, of which approximately 70% is in its natural state. Also be sure to explore the Rocky River Arboretum, which contains imitations of the Old Nursery.
Journey further into Wirrabara Forest and enjoy the best in country living walk, cycle or even ride a horse through the Forest. Have a picnic lunch amongst the tall timbers or camp for a few days to really appreciate the beauty.
There are several marked walks throughout the Forest leading to locations of historical interest and lookouts. The renowned Heysen and Mawson Trails also pass through the Forest.
